WPBWNC Editorial + Fahsion Workshop Part 1

Back in July I was an educator and lead photographer for a women-led photography workshop. The workshop was on urban photography and we used the River Arts District as our backdrop. Through the workshop, I met amazing models, photographers, stylists, and Hair/Makeup Arts. Please make sure to check out everyone’s Instagram accounts because they all have fantastic work.

I am breaking this workshop into two different posts because there are so many great photos I want to highlight.

Shot on Canon 6d Mark II + Canon 50 MM + Canon 85 MM

The day started with the models getting ready. We used Anada Hair Studio as our base camp for getting ready. The hair stylists did a great job at creating unique styles for each of the models. I can barely put my hair into a pony tail, so it was amazing to see the talent and skill put into the hair design. I think hair can make or break a look for a model or client. A great hairstyle can boost your confidence and compliment your outfit.

The stylist also did an amazing job of creating unique looks for each of the models while also have a cohesion to them. From all denim to band tees, the outfits were stunning and definitely fit the grunge setting of the River Arts District. Asheville Fashion Stylist and No Punching Bag did an amazing job curating the clothes.

No outfit is complete with out a fierce makeup look. All the makeup artist did a great job reflecting the models outfits in the makeup while also complimenting the model’s skin tone. I don’t know much about makeup, but I know when it looks great.  There were so many fabulous ladies that lent their talents behind the camera, I will list all of them at the bottom of this blog.

Alyssa was just one of the amazing models a part of this shoot. I loved the way her eyes brought intensity to each pose. Her smile was also infectious, and I tried to get her to smile as much as possible. I loved her boss, padded shoulder outfit. It was retro while also being fresh with the shorts. Her hairstyle also complimented the retro vibes.

Brit had a regal and vintage vibe to her. Her look remind me of Audrey Hepburn mixed with a rocker chick. Her band tee mixed with her flower skirt worked really well together. Her oversized rings were a piece of art as well. Britt was so laid back and knew how to serve looks.

Hannah had one of the most outfits of the group. Her cropped jean jacket and pant combo made her look out of a 70’s movie (or maybe homage to Brittney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s infamous red carpet look). But she pulled it off much better I feel bad that I didn’t get more photos with her. We tried rotate all the models equally, but I seemed to not get as many of Hannah. Regardless, I think the photos I took of her are some of my favorite.

Jess was the queen of the red lip. She gave me Rosie the Riveter vibes with her denim outfit and red bandana. Jess served some serious looks and kept it bright in her photos.

Kayla was a spitfire. She brought so much energy and vibes to the shoot. I loved her personality and how she was able to bring attitude to every photo she was in. Kayla was definitely a scene stealer.

Besides highlighting individual models, I also took group shoots. It was fun to mix around the models to create different looks and vibes. I loved how their outfits complimented each other perfectly. I couldn’t go wrong with whatever combination I choose. All of the models brought their passion and energy to the shoot. This workshop truly brought my creativity to the forefront.

Stay tuned next week for the second part of the photo set. I will show off the rest of the models as well as more group shoots I took.
